oh my the “hole” in “five hole”

We’re Canada’s Texas

LOL, yup. We used those terms way back in the late 80s in Ontario though. At the bar/party after a game it was always about the five-hole.

Stopping for a break along a river path. Golf course just on the other side of the brush and wonderful smell of fresh cut grass with the occasional "clink" as someone connects with their driver. Very peaceful.

Oh man: my parents neighbour builds bikes for fun and he had a bunch of frames dumped outside one day. He wasn’t home so I didn’T know if he was drying them out post wash but one was a GT frame.

It was gone after I had dinner but the other frames were still there so someone dumpster dove :(
Look on the bright side: where there was one, there may well be more.

Keep your co-op eyes peeled. Vintage GT was good stuff. The steel were great, and the titanium frames were definitely equal to the other big brands in terms of spec, quality, details. And that triple triangle = ?.

Also, Ibis. But, I bet 0 of those up there, almost anywhere these days. Stellar.

This is some serious souplesse, it just doesn't get any better.

Anna van der Breggen (NED); World Road Championships, Imola (ITA); Elite Women; Champion.

The parts of the race I caught were awesome. I was up with the baby when the race started and watched the final 30k or so.

I used to work with the ITA national team. I have never seen anything like the current Dutch women:
in today's team of 8 riders, 7 of them were previous World Champions in either road or track, 4 of them multiple titlists, some with added Olympic and/or Giro Rosa/Women's TdF/etc titles.

That is a truly amazing squad.

Huge congratulations also to ITA's Elisa Longo Borghini, who fought like a warrior to win the Bronze, and almost Silver. I think she can be a World Champion some day.

I wonder what caused Dygert's death wobble. Nasty crash.
No kidding. It is hard to tell if the cause was mechanical or rider error, but regardless it was bad. It also showed once more the abysmal barrier protection (lack thereof) in these events. It is unconscionable that the riders are still so inadequately protected in hot corners.

Dygert will recover, and win again. Maybe the Gold one day. She has an incredible future ahead of her, at still only 23, very young, very experienced.

I cut them a bit of slack. There was a pad on the armco, it just didn't extend as far as she needed it. It was a weird crash, and I imagine they just didn't think it would be necessary that far around the turn. This happens in car and moto racing pretty regularly, and those are closed circuits.

Maybe so, but looking at this video at least it seems to me 1 or 2 more lengths, to past the most extreme apex, would have helped a lot. I don't follow other racing so I don't know, but many curves in elite cycling are not protected enough imo.

That curve wasn't something like Casartelli, etc...clearly they knew many pads were necessary, and so it just feels they could have gone the extra few meters, with maybe a few fewer at the front end even. It looks misaligned to the curve, at least in the video I see.

But, yes, sometimes there will never be enough protection no matter what. I do hope she fully recovers; it seems she will at least medically.
