For someone who hates wearing his own socks and shoes, it is interesting to see how curious he becomes about my gyw shoes always. Maybe he has an eye for quality.

Got these neat little ones for him for like 25-30 euros and he would not wear them for more than a couple minutes lol.

This is a nice pair of chukka, I can image some DADDY KID same wear photos already.

Another full resole to make my GG Ishams comfortable. The double leather sole was extremely uncomfortable and stiff. The cork was replaced, the midsole made thinner, and a full rubber sole stitched on. A comfortable and useful shoe at last! Perfect for wet weather and winter, but a perfect dress shoe with durability too.

What's everyone's thoughts on a medallion for the Arran?

I'm going with either oak hatch or rioja hatch on double wensum but have no real feelings on the medallion question.

Hmmm ... I'd ditch the medallion on the Arran, especially with a textured leather - I personally think there's enough going on and a medallion would be overkill to me, but that's my personal taste.

This thread has been quiet for over a week. Just ordered a Thorpe in Tan Hatch from Mehra. Now I wait until the fall for it to arrive.

Moving this post over here from another thread. Will add the pictures later in discussion later.
Stefan88 - it would be good to post that on the GG site too. I'm surprised for a $1500-$2000 shoe the use of these synthetics - and that blue foam also doesn't fit well in my mind for a shoe in this price range. Heard there is also a foam of sorts under the insole, or is it only the blue part at the heel? There is something yellowish under the white gemming... Perhaps anyway, this discussion is better continued over at GG...
I agree that the discussion is better put there, but I'll post the answer here too.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong for a company to innovate and search for new solutions to improve their product.
The webbing doesn't do any damage to the properties of the shoe as far as I can see. Was I surprised to see it though? Yes.
There is no foam under the insole. As for the blue foam under the heel, I believe this is to cushion the heel a little. Seen similar from other makers in other shapes.
The yellow part that can be seen under the gemming is the lining and upper that was cut open.

These shoes were made in 2013 (?). Things may have changed since that.
