Burnhams again, these are probably the "prettiest" pair of boots I own. Wore them for about an hour and a half this afternoon, which is the longest I've had them on feet. So far very impressed with the (single) wensum sole, they look good and are quite comfortable. I have a pair of Canterbury with double wensum sole on order, looking forward to trying them out.

Finally my pair of G&G seems to be adjusting to my feet. Clearly, their TG73 last does not work for me (instep too low). I am a true 10.5UK but this pair of 11UK is both too tight (in some areas) and too loose (in others).

Does anyone have pictures of the grain break they have on their Horween hatch leather? My Thorpe's aren't the tightest.

lol, I wish... no, I do not have any G&G cordovan and am unwilling to ask about it since I know it is more than I would like to spend! These are oak hatch, courtesy of a fellow member.

Debating between three color choices for the Savile. Would you all have any thoughts or recommendations?

Burgundy, dark brown, tan. I’ll mostly wear these with jeans (indigo or light blue) and may, occasionally, wear them with navy or grey trousers.

For reference, I don’t have any other “less formal” shoes. I have oxfords (of all three colors and black), loafers, and sneakers, but nothing “in between” that bridges the gap between oxfords and loafers.

Leaning towards burgundy, but would love to hear thoughts.

A little photo comparison of a SJII in cherry (R) and a Meccariello adelaide in a cherry red color (L). Can clearly tell the significant difference in the instep. One thing to note is the Meccariello is the Aeris line, which is the lowest and cheapest line offered. Probably paid about $500 for the pair.

I’d say the G&G looks and feel like a Ferrari - light, sleek and daring. The AM is more like a Mercedes. Not going to give you the same wow factor, but built like a tank and still incredibly high quality. As you can see, AM does an outstanding job with patina, and best of all it’s free.

I actually asked AM to color the pair just like a SJII and think he did a great job. Finally got a pair of SJII.

Thanks. I always find split toes difficult to polish and where to stop so the polish doesn't crack.

Personally, barring the possibility of selling a kidney on the dark web to finance purchase of all three, I would go with the dark brown. However, whichever choice you make, they're all excellent choices.

I have the Savile in a Canyon patina, which is what I believe is the second photo.
In person and on my feet, it is simply a spectacular shoe.
But for regular wear, I find that my Westbury in vintage Rioja is what I usually end up choosing to wear. It's both distinctive and goes with everything from casual to formal.
And my experience is that six months or a year from now, you'll want another pair.

Do folks who have square deco shoes take your same size and width as the normal lasts or do you go up one size in width? Came across some older posts of people going with F width for their square decos.
