A question for all you G&G connoisseurs: Are the tan and chestnut hatch grain leathers used by G&G actually different or the same? I've seen some retailers use the color descriptions interchangeably, but the pictures I see online seem to vary significantly from an orangey-tan to a warm mid-brown. If different, is the chestnut hatch still available or has it been discontinued?

Interesting question. I had ordered a Thorpe through Mehra in tan hatch grain that he had been carrying. Since my size was out of stock it was done MTO but came labeled as Chestnut Hatch. This was last year at some point. Have you checked the GG website for MTO which shows the various leathers?

G&G’s website only shows tan hatch grain as an option in the MTO configurator (Leffot’s configurator is the same). My guess is that tan is the closest substitute for chestnut and hence the conflation by retailers, but was hoping to confirm that suspicion.

wow, those look amazing. How much is the upcharge for that small little piece of leather? I see many pairs like that and it looks good, even though that's about as much alligator I would tolerate on my shoes.
