in other less than stellar news, i wore the windsors yesterday for the first time. it was raining/slushing outside, and i had to walk in the slush for a total of maybe 2 minutes, in about 30 second increments at max.
below is what i discovered happened to my shoes when i checked to see if they were dry later at night.
CAN SMEONE TELL ME WHY THE EFF THIS HAPPENED AND HOW I CAN FIX IT!
i have been stuck in the rain and snow before, and never has this happened. certainly not on literally the first wear out of the box.
SO MAD!

glue it down using cement gel. happens and sucks. some manufacturers do horizontal cuts and some (vass) do biased diagnoal cuts that holds better.

Just because I'm Jewish doesn't mean I can't get any presents.....happy holidays to myself! :)
I'm glad that for some crazy reason all of the shoes worked out well - I hope Barney's fixes their sizing online before they have some crazy fiasco's.

looking forward to see what is in the boxes

Only one pair belongs to me. It'll be years before I can afford the others

No problem, buy Saint Crispin's, they don't have such problems

i do want a pair, but that has nothing to do with this per say. :)

stitches, both pairs of G&G I own have the same problem. They've never been worn in wet weather so that's not the cause. I assume it's inherent in the materials or construction or something. I have to say it's reduced my enthusiasm for the brand and my recent purchases have been from the "other" big name men's shoemaker.

that stinks. my other GGs have toe taps, so no issue with them. interesting/relieving that many others have had this issue, and with many makers.

that seems to be the popular vote. what cement gel do you recommend?

i was thinking about that. your sign off gives me a greater trust of them. thanks.

Stitch, I had the same thing happen with my decos. The way it was explained to me was that it has to do with the fact that G&G uses a channeled soul. You'll notice that even though they are welted, the soles of the shoes do not show the stitching. From what I understand, this is accomplished by making a flap in the leather used for the soul, applying the welt, and then reattaching the flap so as to cover the stitches. The reason you may not have seen this on your shoes with taps is then immediate.

^^^ Stitchy, that's a common problem with channeled soles. Just glue them back down.

go to a craft store and ask for a leather cement.

i wouldn't use super glue, but at the end of the day it's going to get worn through anyway so it's unlikely to do permanent damage to your shoes.
