Thinking of a St James either RTW or made to deco specs. Is it just the sole finishing or is there a difference in the clicking etc.?

The St James II looks fantastic in the square deco.

I'm fairly confident that a non-Deco shoe made on the deco last is just a normal RTW level of finishing/construction.

Nevertheless, I've got a few of each and it's still hard to tell the difference between a Deco shoe and a RTW made on the Deco last, other than the sole and the outer box (and sometimes the bags are nicer).

I've asked and Dean said they can do it for an upcharge.

There is a difference between deco-lasted and full deco spec, but it's impossible to tell from above. The sole work is quite different, but both are stunning. Matter of personal taste, really.

Deco-lasted, standard oak bark sole:

And the full deco sole:

Dear Readers / GG Friends,

It's great to be back here on Styleforum!

My name is Simon and work as part of the team here based in Savile Row, London.

Some of you may have met / seen me here or when I worked with Justin FitzPatrick in London for 4 years.

We are happy to be back on SF to help answer any questions you may have about us as a brand or more importantly help you with any questions about or shoes!

Don't forget we still have 20% OFF our RTW / MTO collections both in store and online which will finish soon so do get in touch if you need any advice before pulling the trigger on a new pair of G&Gs.

Another thing we are looking to launch soon will be a SF exclusive GMTO offering of a few models so watch this space for updates on this imminently.

If you have any ideas on models you would like to see offered in the GMTO then please do discuss on here or get in touch with me at [email protected]

In the meantime, keep posting pics of your lovely shoes and speak soon :)

Simon.

Everyone loves an Arran or a Thorpe (I would personally love to see a Thorpe in a zug leather). The world is also very loafer friendly these days so a loafer GMTO would probably be successful.

My only other comment is that I haven't pulled the trigger on past GMTO's because they've been on one of the deco lasts, which are a bit too sharp for me personally. But I love all of the other lasts!

Looking forward to possible GMTO and agree on Thorpe and Arran. I am waiting for a Glencoe MTO which hopefully will be here by the fall.
