I have those Weston boots in black lying somewhere for the past three or four years. Nice boots, but it was quite difficult to determine sizing.

Amazing advert there. Like they were exporting kangaroo to the USA even that early. It was very popular in the 20s/40s and I am surprised it has died out as an export leather in any quantity considering how marvellous it is. The 20s-40s boots on eBay made of kangaroo are often in pristine condition. Isshinryu101 has some.

Well, I can't say really. I make pull on boots that require the entire front be one piece. It is difficult to crimp them but once that's done the boots go together quite quickly and smoothly.

I don't think it would be quite that difficult to crimp a pair of whole cut Chelsea's/Congress boots but I've never seen the patterns nor done a pair. As a result, I'm unwilling to speculate too much.

That said, I would think that once the shoes were crimped it would be pretty straight-forward from there.

I work with kangaroo all the time. I used to have better access to Australian tanned 'roo but right now the stuff I like the best is tanned in Italy (of course all kangaroo comes from Oz)

Contrary to popular opinion, 'roo is not just suitable for work or athletic shoes. The Italian hides are lovely with an aniline finish that is equal to or sometimes better than the best calf. It is light weight (@ 2 ounce) and considered the strongest leather known to man for its thickness.

Wow! Sure is a step up from RMW. Love the simplicity of those boots. Thanks Leaves, Bengal-stripe and Nick A.

See the "Waiting for the postman" thread. :cloud:

:censored: UPS came less than ten minutes after the wife, who was sitting at home diligently and faithfully left because for some reason the kiddo's pre-school/day-care has this rule that he has to be picked up before 6.

Went ahead and had it put on hold so that I can pick it up tomorrow. Ratza fratzin... :cloud:

Where do you get your Kangaroo leathers from, any tanneries in Italy you can recommend? I really would like to get my hands on some nice kangaroo suede for summer slipons.

EDIT: if anyone knows where to get bullfrog I'd also be very interested to hear which tanneries, I don't think Crack carries it.
