Yes, the trees went up as well, they go for about $175 now from overseas. If they weren't a package deal, I would just get my trees from Leffot after the fact...

I am not a big fan of the new shoe tree policy. I bought some boots with the shoe trees and regretted it. Really if G&G should provide 3-piece boot trees for boots.

I agree, I have a pair with the 3 piece boot tree, and one with the regular tree. I feel like I am putting too much force on the heel just trying to get that regular tree into my boots.

I don't know how I feel about GG's efforts to streamline their process more. Price hike aside, they have taken away a lot of what made them great in my opinion...

As someone looking to venture into G&G and/or EG, I will say that the changes have me more focused on EG.

Perhaps. But EG MTO program is very inflexible IMO.

Man, I want to continue getting GGs, but it's getting really difficult to justify. Especially in my case, which pretty much demands MTO.

I try to have loyalty to makers I like, but I too am considering EG, and even STC at this point. Especially in comparison to those new MTO prices...

So, i have nailed down the details to my Hove MTO, and have prepared the following mock-up:

1000

MH71, vintage oak calf, black contrast stitch (as well as welt and lining), & 3 eyelet version (taking advantage of the old MTO edit policies).

I will admit, i am not sure if i am over designing this one. I like the idea of a 3 eyelet hove, but i'm not sure if the spacing will look ok. Even the contrast stitching looks a bit much on some days to me. This will be my last GG this year, and i guess i am tethering between a classic staple, or something with a little more unique character.

Opinions are very much welcome...

Anyone own G&G's in chestnut? Pics?

I'll repost my GG boots in combo leather, which includes chestnut. It is a gorgous color, and the burnishing makes it sing in the sunlight:

1000

Buy with confidence, my friend :nodding:
