Interesting recommendation on the occasional use of burgundy.

apparently it enriches the blue and also tones down the black rather than using a neutral. Suppose it is a bit like using the occasional brown on vintage cherry, as I know many who alternate between red and black polish and use light brown to tone both of them down. Again that was recommended by someone at G&G.

Thomas was extremely knowledgable. There was a pair on the table by the entrance and several tins were out. I may go back to pick his brain about polishing.

I've read Steven of Leffot recommend navy wax on color 8 or burgundy shoes to give them more depth. I think it might work great on say burgundy shell Frankenstitch boots.

The standard G&G midnight blue looked awesome.

    @Ironist

Do you have a pair of MH71 as well? Are they sized the same as your TG73?

I'm so tempted to go back and try on TG73 and DG70 just for peace of mind, though I was told they should all fit exactly the same. I think @laufer said he can't wear the TG73 due to the taper.

Can anyone comment on how is the creasing for Bramhall in calf? I worry about the each punch in the detail being a nucleation point for creasing.

From these pics, it seems like it could be normal to severe.

Being a wholecut there is obviously more creasing as opposed to say my Rothschild however the "cap" shall we say is further forward than it looks so that minimises it at the front.

I will try and post a bent foot picture tomorrow to show where they fall

Why would there be more creasing for a wholecut than a pieced cut?

    Gents,

Can anyone comment on which G&G last best accommodates a high instep? FWIW I have my eye on the TG70...

    Thanks!

They all fit the same in the instep.

I take the same size in MH71, TG73 and DG70. Others have had fit issues with TG73 because of toe box.

I have a relatively high instep and find all lasts fit similarly in that regard (which is to say not a problem for me) and like badsha take the same size across the range.

Thanks gents. For reference, the best RTW fit I've found is Edward Green's 82 (ie, Chelsea). Without wanting to start yet another last comparison discussion, can anyone comment on how G&G compares just in relation to instep?

Can you just request a deco last to be used for a regular MTO without the Deco upcharge?

There is an upcharge for having a non-Deco model made on the Deco last on an MTO basis.

G&G do have a couple stock models on the Deco last that are priced the same as their non-Deco stock lines - if memory serves correctly, they have a vintage oak Sinatra, a midnight blue Mitchell and a vintage rioja Warwick.
