Nothing in previous posts would indicate he would ever own anything like those
I admit I rather liked the green insole liner and deep green lacings that were a part of my Green Shell Carminas.
Although,in the long run it really doesn't matter. Certainly not a reason to choose one pair of shoes over the other.
However, I DO appreciate a lining color that is matched to the outer color - as the lining can often be seen around the collar while the shoe is on and in this case it does indeed matter. My G&Gs have a dyed lining.
yes, there is no serviceable function to such details. many other details fall in that same category. and certainly, imo, purchases should not hinge on such things.
HOWEVER, despite what many people may think about many of us here, in the end of the day, i dress for myself. so i feel good about how i look, and about what i have. sure we all like internet approval, but how long does that really last for? i gain far greater satisfaction when throughout the course of the day i find myself thinking, "man, i really look good today," or, "man, i really love these shoes/pants/suit, im really glad i got them, and that little useless detail really puts a smile on my face."
sure, much of what brings me to being pleased with myself, is help i received here, but all the approval in the world dont mean jack, if when i look in the mirror, i think, "meh."
and that is why i like details like purple insoles, or stitching in places no one sees, or little lasered on lettering on the side of MOP buttons, or any other obscure extra touch, because dagnabbit, it makes me happy. and no one can take that away from me.
This came up at the webshop starting to like them more then St James ll, two diffrent kind of shoes. But as Sartorial Splender wrote I need to have something diffrent aswell.
+1. Kinda regret buying the Canterbury, should have waited for the wigmore.
Speaking of waiting, I've entered my 6 month waiting for my black shell boot. My question is WTF?!
I always go for dark purple lining if I only can. It won't be seen, it has no effect on wear comfort, it's there for me. Every time I take a pair off or put them on, my favourite colour greets me.
The black sole must be possible because the pic above has it and i have seen it in some oher pics as well but is it possible to get another color att the lining if you go MTO, and this is just for my own plessure , i even got silver color stays from T&A, nobody but me that ses them but thay sure feel good
Join the club, I am into my 6th months waiting for Uppingham and other in the pipeline. It is torture for a shoe guy.
Sorry for the delay. Hopefully have both of these over the next week. I'll keep you posted.
Lovely - Just lovely , almost to precious to wear
Which G&G are those?
