I have the Moore a 1/2 size smaller than the St. James, so it would be an unfair comparison in terms of fit.

G&G has slightly better leather, tighter waist. I think the sole treatment are a tie. All based on my uneducated observations.

What size do you take in AS Moore & St j G&G if you don't mind me asking you.

As far as overall aesthetics though I imagine the St James to be the winner in your opinion?

9.5FUK (Moore), should have taken a 10 or wider size. I am getting pinky toe crush or otherwise they fit great (reason I am selling). I wear 10EUK in G&G.

Yes, but the Moore would be perfectly fine if I didn't know about the St. James.

Understand, I already have a pair of AS Cherry Moores and I also find them to be a real nice pair of Adelaides.

Thanks

Pin grain is awesome, you should go for it or organize GMTO. See here http://www.styleforum.net/t/291745/...ures-info-and-where-to-buy/19755#post_7984796

Ah, yes. I recall that boot now.

If there is broad interest in a Bramhall in Chestnut pin grain on MH71 last standard width with Wensum or Oak soles, I would be in on the GMTO.

I would probably also go for a Chester, Hayes, Kent or Burnham too.

personally prefer MH71 a lot more than TG73, like DG70, but it doesn't fit me, at least not in E width...

@blue2007

I feel you need an F width, man. I tried 7.5F and my foot was swimming. Tried 7.5E and it was too tight across the ball. The 7F was fantastic on the MH71, and my I step is high and foot is wide.

I was a bit let down that the retail store on Savile Row discouraged me from trying on a TG73 shoe after we found the right MH71 size: the SA insisted that Tony G had designed all lasts to fit the same, so TG73 "will absolutely fit great in the same size."

From what I've read on here, at least half the folks seem to disagree with that statement. TG73 seems much narrower and thus I am certain will be uncomfortable. I'm worried the DG70 will be as narrow...and I really like that last.

The MH71 is perfect, totally agree with @justinkapur on the chisel.

I could not fit in TG73 in my regular size, I take all other G&G lasts in the same size but TG73 was too tight at my toes. One I went a half size up the shoe was too long. It tools like I need the F width on TG73.

The general fit is the same across the lasts but what makes a difference is the toes. The fit is all subjective based in how your toes are positioned and their size. If you have large toes or a big toe that sits farther out from the others, you most likely will feel like the tg73 or dg70 are too tight because they are aggressive in how the toes taper in so quickly.
If you have a large toe that goes towards the other toes or a small bunion starting, you probably will do better with the same size in all lasts because they won't put as much pressure on your big toe.

Long toes vs short toes compared to the heel to ball Length can make a difference as well. If your heel to ball length is longer than your overall foot length (I.e. UK 10 heel to ball vs UK 9.5 overall length) you probably will have less problems in the same sizes between lasts because your toes won't go up to the most tapered part of the toe boxes because you will choose the size based off of your longer measurement (in this case the UK 10).
if your overall length is longer than your heel to ball measurement (long toes) then you may need to consider changing sizes for the more tapered lasts due to the fact that your toes will go more into the tapered parts of the toe box.

Changing the width could also be a way to help this because the most important measurement is the heel to ball so your foot sits in place Better.
