Garment bag for traveling?

Anyone know where I can get a decent garment bag (for a suit) for traveling (i.e. something I can bring as hand luggage onto a plane)? I have seen some people carry garment bags with a shoulder strap (i.e. like a messenger bag), but I have no idea where I can by one. Any suggestions? Leather or cloth/nylon would both work, I guess.

What is your budget? What else will you be carrying in your bag?

I don't really have a budget, but if it's above $250 I'd have to think about it. Something available online with international shipping is preferred, but I guess "global" brands would be available in reatail stores here (although, probably quite expensive). Even just knowing what the thing is called would help, as I would be able to search for it online.

I pack everything else in a small carry-on, but the suit won't fit unless I fold it, so, instead of having to check a larger suitcase when flying, I was thinking of using a small carry-on and a garment bag.

If you live in Oslo there is a sale at Steffens right by Karl Johan. They have a sale around now I think, and they carry Tumi.

You can probably find sales/deals if you shop around. I've got a Tumi Tech trifold garment bag that perfect for trips around 5 days (I'm a light packer).

I noticed they have some bags that are "domestic carry-on" and some that are "international carry-on". What's the difference? I assume I need an "international carry-on" as I don't live in the U.S.?

http://www.tumi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4063080 looks like just what I'm after, although a bit pricey at $395.

Probably the size. Different airlines will have different size requirements for carryons. Domestic means US, but international means international travel, not necessarily domestic travel in your home country.

Check the airlines you normally travel with for size restrictions, then buy the largest size that satisfies all of them. Note that there are sometimes weight restrictions also.

My Tumi wheeled roll aboard has a suit sleeve which is great for a brief trip when you need one suit besides what you wear, although I often think it's just as easy to fold your suit jacket inside itself then in half and it never suffers.

I also have a Tumi wheeled alpha trifold carry on which can fit two or three suits in for a longer trip. The only drawback is not much room for extra shoes.

I have Samsonite and Delsey and love both. They seem built to last it...

these guys are alright...

i bought a cheapie from some random place in the mail and it fell apart after like 3 flights... so buy something decent.

i was pretty sure Brooks Brothers had a pretty smart looking one in the outlet stores i've been into.

I see. I travel mostly in Europe, and the planes are the same used for domestic flights here in Norway, so I guess the "international" version is the way to go then.

That's what I did today, so we'll see how it turns out when I arrive...
