Mmmmm...garlic rules.

I probably use it far more than I should. In fact, when I've tried creating new recipes recently I've had to make a conscious effort to omit it so that everything I cook doesn't end up involving garlic.

I've always thought it was weird that people from other towns get more excited about the Garlic festival than the people living here

Isn't that the case for anything? When I was living in DC, locals hated all the festivities surrounding the Inauguration or the 4th of July, mostly because non-locals got so excited about it and would travel into town by the carload. In fact, most locals used those events as an excuse to get out of town. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, I've actually probably seen less of the sights than tourists that visit, only because I've never really had the motivation to go sightseeing in my backyard, sticking to local hangouts.

My parents are anti-garlic

Every time they are watching Food TV they complain/can't understand why the chefs add garlic to nearly every dish.

Maybe my parents are vampires?

Heh, that reminds me of an old joke that always cropped up around the time all the garlic festival commercials/news coverage would start here in the Bay Area...

"Why do vampires avoid Gilroy?"

"Because it's a sh-thole."

al;skgj;alskdjgs;alskdg0wiew...I'm only in DC for another 2 weeks because of a summer job.

And I just remembered. I could've hit up the garlic festival and the outlets.

This is, apparently, the time of year to plant garlic. I might do that this weekend.

Garlic is really great. Growing up my mom used to always put it into all the food she made. In fact, she still does. I used to hate it but I love it now. It's got such a wonderful taste, and roasted garlic is just so absurdly good.

Love it.
Deep fried, skin on. Taken out when gold brown. Peel skin and season with a little salt.

Mmm

I love garlic but driving through Gilroy is nauseating.
