In Germany shoes are manufactured for free and placed on the backs of spotted owls who take them to all their distribution points. The owls also drop pamphlets as the fly. You fellas at G&G really ought to look into that...

Those that cost several (few) thousands are bespoke and I sure that the trees are included when ordering bespoke. Just wanted to be pedanto-man.

However your post is un tout petit peu...GDR style

Are you guys really seeing a drop in shoe buying?

The people who are losing their homes, etc., are not the ones who will drop $500 for a pair of shoes.

The people who lost jobs at a Wall Street pirate-ship are a very, very small % of the population.

The rate of home-buying, etc., in the affluent market is up, actually.

Even if someone loses 15% of their million-dollar portfolio, they still have $850,000 left. I think that's probably enough to be able to afford shoes of any type.

So I'm curious if sales of $$$ shoes are really down.

there's a slight ominous tone to Masaichi's first post tone....

sounds like maybe $$$$ shoes sales are quite down in these times?

I like the G&G styling, and I hope the venture continues to thrive.

But let's face it, times are difficult now, people are losing savings and houses and jobs. Shoes, especially shoes in the price range of G&G, fall into discretionary income.

Whereas bigger outfits like Lobb or C&J may be able to weather the bad times, smaller business like G&G may not.

With all I read they sold around the world. If only 90% paid their shoe bills they can buy an island, a plane and retire!

Other shoe companies built up their business and staff for decades. G&G was up not long ago and have earned alot of moeny! So I don't get the "...continue to do business otherwise we won't survive"-blabla. Are there any other companies which sell multicolour shoes for thousands??

Berluti, Pierre Corthay.

Oh and after having taken a look at the models they have at Leffot I must say G&G succeeds in creating interesting styling where, to me, EG failed. Really nice looking shoes and pricing in line with others in their league.

Scaling up like they have done (RTW) Is cash intensive. but If you hit market corectly can give you a bigger overhead. The first couple of years going RTW is always critical.

It helps to ensure MTO shoes are timely delivered from the previous order so that the customer can wear them and decide what more is needed for the next G&G visit

But you can't rush quality, and I don't want them too
