Hmm...Does it look too formal? Should I wear it only for full dress-up situation?
Looks good to me...but also tricky to me...

That's suede not velvet...

I'd agree that this would be fine with a suit, but not with morning dress or evening dress...

that is a really nice shoe. in my opinion it has a formal look about it due to the velvet, but i cant imagine it with a tux

Much as I like this shoe, IMHO it is trying too hard,that's the age old problem with black on black combination oxfords. The addition of a medallion and the finish don't make it an obvious choice for black tie and the suede makes it an uncomfortable choice for incorporating into one's professional life.

This is just one of the variations of this shoe. Bespoke England has it in a calf/aligator combination. It can also be ordered in Black Calf only of course. The two material combination is just an option.
