1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

    There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Foo, on furniture/decor choices, do you steamroll/stonewall your wife the way you do with members of this forum? I've seen you write that you fortunately agree on style choices (or something like that), but I wonder if she just doesn't bother to have an opinion. Would be a sensible (but sad) move for her if you discuss these things with her the way you discuss them here.

    And if you discuss them differently here, why not be more open minded here?

    Yes, exactly.

    So, any-who, if you like Finn Juhl you may find that you also like a lot of other Danish Design.

    ^ I remembered that quote from early on and it surprised me to see that AY is a fan of that Finn Juhl chair.

    Maybe this is the 5%. If you google image Danish Modern, I don't like most of what comes up. I don't like Juhl's other chair, the Cheiftain or something like that.

    Lots of Jetsons legs on cabinets. Don't like the jetsons legs.

    Chieftain is one of the others, but there are many. I'm definetly a fan of his peices such as the diplomat desk, model 45, 46 and 108 chairs and the 4600 sofa.

    I'm being accused of having narrow, rigid taste by someone who only finds virtue in wooden Danish furniture. I cannot be the only one who sees the comedy in that.

    not narrow, but definitely rigid.

    "only"?

    Facts:
    1) A is a subset of B.
    2) Archetypal_yuppie likes A.
    Foo conclusion:
    3) Archetypal_yuppie only likes B.

    Fail.

    A = Juhl 45
    B = Danish Modern genre

    I wasn't talking about you.

    God help this forum if it boils down to discussions between just Archetypal_Yuppie and SkinnyGoomba.

    Home living style has a very nice variety of home furniture you can get branded things at great discounts there. It has a beautiful collection of bathroom vanity, bed room furniture, living room furniture and kids' stuffs.

    So you express a preference for modern furniture.

    Stay away from Room & Board, C&B, Pottery Barn, etc.

    My own suggestions:
    1) Ligne Roset: Italian modern furniture. I purchased a second hand rosewood armoir from LR a few years ago but had to pass it along to a friend when I moved in with my girlfriend. Excellent quality stuff. Much nicer than B&B Italia.
    2) ABC Carpet: gigantic and offers an eclectic mix of styles
