I'll very self-consciously give a +1 to the Cirque de Soleil recommendation. I just saw the adult-themed one. I forget what it's called, and found it wonderfully creative and well-produced.

Aside from that, eat. There are some world-class restaurants there, so avail yourself of them and worry about the expense later.

Club wise, I've been very disappointed in Vegas. Everything seems to be schlock, but then again, what did I expect?

wow... vegas sounds like it blows. The people I'm consulting for are trying to get me to move there, and that will not happen.

I already know about the food being good but I guess nothing else is really going to excite me.

I didn't realize you had never been. Get ready for the shock - unless you take it "ironically", you'll find that place depressing, tacky and overall vomit-inducing. If you condition yourself (or have others condition you) that it is "fun", then you may have a good 12-24 hours there before you lapse into the former mood.

Vegas sucks.

If I had to pick a place with friends for a weekend of debauchery/partying, LV would probably be my top choice.

Ive been going to vegas for 8 or 9 years 2-3x a year.
Clubs are ******* wack, but if you must- XS and lavo are ok. Imagine being surrounded by the worst people in the world and paying out the ass for the privlage.
Eat-robechon, twist, spago, bouchon brunch, or any michael mina, batali
Go to downtown, theres a couple semi decent bars- the beauty bar brings in ok music, and its not the typical beauty bar crowd. Goto old vegas casinos. I ran into don vito on some 3$ blackjack tables. Watch your wallet, theres some scum lurking.
shoot guns! best 150 i ever spent. shot hk-mp5, m16, desert eagle, ect... This was the best "random vegas thing" ive ever done( besides unprotected sex/ strippers)
Havent gone to shows yet, but thats next, though im trying to avoid that place

Ok the gun shooting thing interests me. What kind of documentation do you need? Where do I go to shoot these things?

www.thegunstorelasvegas.com Its really expensive, but they have some cool guns. In terms of documentation, I think just a driver's license, but I don't remember.

I enjoyed hitting some balls at the Callaway golf center. The driving range has a nice view of the strip and planes land in the distance too.

Might be worth going to somewhere that you can stare at teh strip at night from a bar/nightclub. Foundation Room or Mix at Mandalay Bay, Ghostbar at Palms, wouldn't recommend Rio though.

Oh, forgot to add. The bar at the Mandarin Oriental has some interesting cocktails and great views. I was in there a lot last time I was in Vegas...

I go to Vegas about 2-3 times a year as well. The Callaway golf center is one of the first places we normally go to. A nice place to hit a bucket of balls and play a quick 9 hole par 3 course. There are some really nice golf courses in Vegas. I always golf twice when I'm out there. If you're into golf, check golfnow.com for discount rates. I got a tee time at TPC Las Vegas for $60 from there a year ago.

Downtown used to be ok with a good group, but I always have much more fun on the strip. There's a lot of douchebaggery everywhere, but if you're with good people, you won't notice it as much. You know about the food. A show or two may be fun. I really enjoyed Frank Caliendo at the Monte Carlo last time I was there.

If you don't want to gamble and want to have fun at night, there are a host of nightclubs. It's best if someone in your group has a host so you can have them get you on the list to get in or a table beforehand and not have to wait in any lines. They can be packed though as last time I was at Haze in Aria, the dance floor was shoulder to shoulder which sucked. I've always had fun and would recommend Ghostbar at The Palms. It's more low key without music blasting so you can actually have a conversation at a normal level. Much smaller than most other places but had just the right amount of people the times I went. The outside patio also overlooks the Strip.

the gun shooting deal doesnt require much. no experience, they do most of the handling, they just put the gun in your hand and try to get you to unload and out quickly as possible. You just sign a waiver, pay and play. The hotel cosmopolitan thats opening sounds pretty interesting. I am curious to see how city center plays out.

No desire for ironic middle america type of experiences? Like going to the Joust show at Excalibur? Its definitely an experience, more for the audience than the show.

I actually enjoy the clubs, but I get really wasted and tables so its a different experience.
