Full service lifestyle brand

I can think of only two brands that are major lifestyle, home and apparel companies: Ralph Lauren on the high-end and Land's End for the middle-class value shopper. Each brand introduces dozens of new products each season that touch every aspect of a buyer's wardrobe, accessories and home furnishings (though Land's End doesn't make much furniture or fragrances). You could literally surround yourself in these two brands without having to buy anything from another shop and not be worse for wear. Are there other brands out there that compare two these billion dollar franchises?

Lots of them make almost full collections... Tom Ford makes everything for a man from an umbrella to boxers. Gucci makes everything from a Down parka to a leather desk mat emblazoned with "Guccissima" monogram to wallpaper. Hermes makes everything from your wife's tee-shirt to your dog's collar.

RL and Land's End may just be the largest and most popular, but many brands have tried the whole "You want it... we'll get it!" angle of maximum profitability.

Ummm... and RL has a paint factory behind his house? Every one of these brands license out their goods to others, from RL to Gucci to Hermes... As for Armani above, don't forget Armani Profumi... "Aqua di gio" of which makes him enough money to float around Biarritz for the rest of his life...

Funny you mention this... I was actually getting ready to say the same thing when the post of Armani was started above. I think Versace was trying to do what Armani did, but it didn't work as well. STILL, though, I've had a couple of their rococco/baroque print pillows and in small doses the stuff was gorgeous. Hilariously overpriced (who wants a $400 throw pillow?), but gorgeous in a decadent way only Gianni himself could do.

Armani's aesthetic works better, overall, for branching out into many areas... sort of like RL. Versace is too narrow in its wild, over the top aesthetic ever to really be a gigantic lifestyle brand.
