Full-Canvassing in Non-suit/sport coat/blazer jackets

Does anyone have knowledge as to whether or not full canvasses are employed in jackets that are not suits/sport coat/blazers? Specifically, I bought an Isaia suede jacket and it seems to have a full canvas between the suede and the lining. Is this fairly typical in higher end leather jackets (I'm new to higher end menswear) or am I mistaken and the layer in between may be something else?
