1. I snagged a pair of Carnegies in the recent (maybe even ongoing) EG sale, so now have the more-formal black shoes I wanted. A year or two ago, I picked up a new pair of black C&J benchgrade wholecut Mayfairs (no longer in the catalog) for this purpose, and now have no real use for them. These have been worn maybe 6 times and so are pretty much like new. I had the soles professionally trimmed back a little to improve the sleekness quotent. They are on the 318 last, which I prefer to the 348 for more-formal shoes (not quite as rakish as the latter), are Size 9E UK, and are 5-eyelet balmorals. They're no longer available, and I think that the hard-to-find Alex (348 last) must be their replacement. (The Alex is not available through PLal, Pediwear, or Robt. Olds, but occasionally appears on eBay.) If these (the Mayfair and Alex) were available, they would sell for about the same price as other benchgrade oxfords. I'd like $250 shipped to North America or the UK. (Click to enlarge picture below):

Mayfairs SOLD. New thread started with Onslows and a second pair of shell cordovan shoes.

2. I purchased these shell cordovan burgundy C&J Onslows with the double leather soles a while back. They're also in 9E UK. With the fairly generous toebox of the 325 last, they're just a little too large, and I will probably replace them with an identical pair in 8.5 UK. I could keep them and bulk them up inside with additional insoles, but a better solution is probably to sell and replace them. I've worn them probably 6-7 times. I had the soles trimmed back slightly to make them a little less massive and had Topy oversoles put on (which could be easily removed if desired). I've shamelessly poached a stock picture of them from the C&J website, since my photographic skills are limited (as can be seen above). These sell for about $635 (ex VAT) plus shipping from Pediwear and Robt. Old and about $540 plus shipping from PLal. I'd like $400 shipped to NA and the UK.
