Hello SFer's,

Here, I'm selling a brand new with tags RL Purple Label navy blazer. It's in perfect condition, with no flaws. The sleeves are basted and unfinished. It is a two-button, dual vent model. This blazer was made in England. It's a beautiful jacket, but just didn't fit me properly.

Price: $595, including CONUS shipping (paypal only)

**Please see actual measurements to determine fit.

Shoulder: 19"
Chest: 44"
Sleeve: 25"
Length: 30.5" (from bottom of collar)

Please note, one of the pictures shows that the tag has been marked with a black marker to prevent retail returns. Also, the bright spot on one of the photos is form the camera. The jacket has no flaws.

Please feel free to ask questions or request additional photos.

Looks nice, measurements seem consistent with 41R, though.

Also note that ranchsooner was selling similar pieces for a couple hundred dollars less.

Yes, it is a nice jacket - thanks.

As far as sizing goes, it's a bit of a dark art to me. That's why I double asterisked the note to pay attention to measurements. If it's closer to a 41, I'm glad you pointed it out.

I now see where ranchsooner has sold a similar jacket (in a 44L) for about one hundred less. Not, as you say, a couple hundred. Ranchsooner must have a great source.

I'm not purchasing and flipping, but instead just selling a couple of items that didn't quite fit. So, I'm trying to cover my costs. I thought I'd try to share with SF before going to eBay.

In any case, I hope an SFer buys and enjoys it. Indeed, I wish it fit me.

Yeah, no worries. Typically chest measurements are 2-3" higher than the jacket size, which is not necessarily a hard/fast rule but still a good rule of thumb.

Sounds good, it's still a pretty good deal at this price but just wanted to give you and prospective buyers a heads up. One other thing to note is that this is an older (Barrie) jacket while the ones ranchsooner was selling were Italian (St. Andrews)

That could be true for jackets in general, but RLPL is typically cut pretty slim relative to the size. If you look at some of the other measurements, many of their 44R jackets have 46.5-47" measurements.

Could be, I don't know anything about RL purple label. It's my size and very tempting, but I'm too poor at the moment. Good luck selling it.

Ask Andy is trad oriented.

Trads buy suits to hide the body. Chest plus 4 inches should cover most irregularities...Brooks Brothers often has measurements like this.

But many other makers will only add three or two inches, thus a US 40 could have a measure of 42 inches. This could be better if you have a body you neither want to hide nor closely show. If you want to closely show it, try chest plus one inch or so.

Ultimately, don't go by size -- go by measurements. Measure something you like and see what the numbers are.

I couldn't likely pull the trigger until after the holidays unfortunately but just curious how long ago you bought the jacket.

If I recall correctly, I purchased the jacket about nine months ago. It's been sitting in my closet since then. I would take it out from time to time and try to convince myself to take it to the tailor. But, I knew even if properly tailored, I wouldn't be happy with the fit. Now, I need the closet space, so out it goes.

If you're interested in which "season" the jacket comes from, I'm afraid I don't know. I didn't purchase it from a primary retailer (although there is a Saks tag under the collar). I can attest that the jacket is in perfect condition and of classic styling.

FYI re: the sizing debate ... I have several RLPL suits and sportcoats and find that the Chester Barrie jackets are generally more trad than trim, so tospeak. The St. Andrews jackets are a slimmer, and IMHO more flattering, cut.
