Zileri Sartoriale stuff is very, very nice. It is not that popular here but it is quite comparable to the big Italians and I much prefer it over Luciano Barbera Sartoriale and it is head and (soft) shoulders above Corneliani and Canali. At $400, this suit is a steal.

Andres is a reliable and honest seller, I've purchased three Zileri items from him. Andres, could you explain in better detail the "buttoned cuff" on the pants? I don't quite get it.

Hello Ed,

Thanks for your kind words...

The trousers have cuffs that button they are not sewn so you can open them, to remove lint or dust inside the cuffs fold for example..

The jacket is full canvased and has napolitanean shoulders, no padding and with "rollino".

The trousers have flat fronts and slim cut and definetely italian leg opening ( 8" flat or 16" round ) that will show better your shoes.

First quality suit, soft and warm wool 100 for you lovers of DB or brown suits

Looks amazing ... I can see past the photo lighting to know this is a top notch suit. Even though I infrequently wear DBs, if this were a 40R I'd buy it....

Agreed it is a great suit and an extremely good deal, but:

I much prefer it over Luciano Barbera Sartoriale
You sure about that?

Yes, 100%. Barbera might get a slight edge if you can get me a Sartoriale suit for under $400, above that, no. Keep in mind that I do not like the Barbera fit on me, and I find the construction (stitching) sloppy in some places. So if you are simply talking about construction and fabrics with no regard to price or fit, Barbera makes a better garment if only due to their C. Barbera fabric. If you are asking me personally which one I would pay my money for, it would be Zileri sartoriale every time. I will say that Barbera has more interesting fabric selections

Interesting.

Do you mean Barbera pre- or post- Attolini? I have a couple of LBs which I am sure are from the days when Cesare Attolini made them and they are excellent. Last I saw some newer LBs was at Filene's Basement, Boston in August and I got this feeling it wasn't quite the same any more.

That said I have never owned a Pal Zileri before. But it looks like that will soon change

Hmm, I wonder which ones you are referring to? Since Attolini, Barbera has used several makers and the jackets all fit differerently. I can't say I've ever seen anything remotely sloppy about the stitching on any Barbera jacket either, regardless of maker. I've always considered them to be in a different tier than the sartoriale.it jackets, as those lack the handstitched buttonholes found on the Barbera's.

No matter though, these are both extremely fine garments so we are picking nits.
