In this week's issue of Fortune, there's a "Luxury: Life at the top" section. They have an interview with Frederic De Narp, who's the head of Cartier's North American business. A few tidbits:

Favorite shirtmaker - Alain Figaret.

Shoes - "I've worn Westons for 20 years, and John Lobb because of the shape and the leather quality. People judge the elegance of a man by his shoes and his watch. The guy who hired me at Cartier told me years later he had been amazed by the quality of my shoes"

+1 on Alain Figaret. Used to have a London store but closed a couple of years ago. Ties are exceptional value and quite beautiful. Shirts are well-made and have nice fabrics but have rather short sleeves in their regular length variants.
