In MC, we don't see stacking as a good thing. It's an instance of poor fit. Here, it's "visual interest." Different points of view coming from different approaches to dress.

Yeah, you can't compare pants and jeans for stacking. I would consider break/stacks in jeans to be almost a necessity if you're wearing a slim cut. It looks bad on most pants, but I think if you were to look at a variety of jeans fits, you'd realize that the stack was a positive trait. It eases the transition from jeans -> sneakers/boots.

Or an example of balancing out broad shoulders/larger top. They can add weight to the bottom of a MC fit when the eye needs to be drawn down and they can "ground" a fit. Not that MC stacks will ever be as big as denim stacks, it's a different material, but they do play a roll in both types of dress.

Just my humble opinion but I think the elements that make an outfit work in most SW&D and most MC are vary similar, only realized in a slightly different medium.

Also like to give honorable mention to TTO, the guy looks great in his prior fits and really would fit in on both sides of the board. I guess having under 100 posts is costing him.

I agree fully. Balance and proportion rule the day, irrespective of medium.

So now denim needs to be hemmed so it looks like it's floating above one's shoe, got it. Any other rules we need to follow?

PS. you don't have to respond to this or every other post btw

Keep dressing like you do now, but when you're 53, divorced, and an uncle.

I think luftvier wins the gold medal for most insecure SFer, as well as a special booby prize for repeating the moronic dogma that the 'elements of style' are timeless when all you can do when looking at him is wonder why he's dressed up as an extra from Boardwalk Empire.
