1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    eh...

yeah a few years back it very workman like. And there was love for J Crew as well. I think both sides have their fair share of trend jumping. MC and its soft shoulder fascination is fairly new I believe. same with the sudden hate for white shirts and jerking off to anything Fresco

Yeah, superdenim is quite americana/vintage/workwear minded, thats what I mean.
Im not saying CM isnt subject to change (and I do mean CM and not #menswear pitti peacocks) but the difference between a workwear fit and sone of the 50+ thumb fits SWD has these days is substantialy larger than that between a soft and a structured shoulder.
I'm not saying its a bad thing per se, its just an observation.

Superfuture in general is just more extreme. You have the super denim heads, super workwear dudes, super hypbeast types, super high fashion runway types and super drapey dudes. Basically, people on SuFu are committed to a certain aesthetic. Most Styleforum SW&D types are more centered and take from multiple styles.

ETA: a very telling indicator is the marketplace. People have very "cohesive" sales threads on SuFu where every item is very much in the same family as the other. You'll get the guy with only Americana Japanese repro brands and workboots / the guy who has 23423432 runway samples you might have never even seen before even from the shows themselves / the guy who has 7 Rick Owens leathers and artisanal boots / the guy who has only limited release Nikes and Supreme collaboration hats. Styleforum you get people with all sorts of things. I'm not saying people here wear Rick Owens like Mr. Porter styles it (with chinos wtf?), but they tend to mix and match more.

I've tried to make my business casual more interesting lately, but for the most part I just wear Epaulet/WvG safe OCBD/chinos M-Th/F and experiment some on the weekends or at night. I have some artisanal boots, but you won't see me posting outfits like the .gif from SZ. I've got some designer tailoring/leather jackets, but I'm not going to look like a Margiela runway model either. Some days I wear EG workwear type stuff, but I'm not going to pass for Daike Suzuki anytime soon. Is this good/bad? I don't know, but I do admire people who are deep into a certain aesthetic.

Some years ago I was hired as a lead engineer to design an assembly plant. I remember the HR guy suggesting we all wear polos. [IMG]

Anyway, gotta give this one to T1 so far... nice fit!

This is true. That particular thread (much like the Alden thread) is its own little insular community within SW&D.

I'm not really a known CM poster although that is where I am trying to find my style sense. Most of my CM fits posted to date have been laughable, though I have learned a lot. All that said, here is my attempt:

@Teger did an interview with Karlo Steel, one of the owners of Atelier NYC, as goth ninja a store as you get, a while ago now (you can read part of it here if you feel like.) He had a lot of interesting things to say, and I think that he said something that really speaks to the difference between SWD and CM.

Well, fwiw, the Prada group owns Church's, and afaik, they still have some Prada shoes made by Church's. Actually, it was interesting to see the Church's creepers at Pitti Uomo 83, where it seems that the design aspect of Prada was creeping into Church's, though, AFAIK, there is relatively little communication from the Prada mothership to Church's Northhampton HQ.

fwiw, I find these two entries the most compelling.

I am also a fan of Kaplan's entry. Though it really is very #menwear casual, it's also done really well, imo. Proportions and textures, combined with his build, are very interesting:

Sorry, had to nullify it to add NOBD. Hope everything's in order now, 'cause I'll be out and about the rest of the day and evening.
