His initial posts were met with disdain.

but yeah we shouldn't turn this into an MC v SWD thread.
that was not my intention. I was trying to add to the convo but I can see how it looks like it could be seen as such

Oh, must have been some earlier posts of his that I didn't see then. I think MC has a certain conservatism (duh!) that meets any initial posters. However once we get used to someone a little, like Tibor, or you, for instance, then people just accept that that is the way he is and we should appreciate it for what it is. Just seems to be a pattern anyway.

Apart from the footwear I like that a lot, T1. Looks very natural.

True true. Let's get some fits in here then!

Would it be productive to point out in each fit how one could accomplish a more "SW&D" look? I'd imagine you guys would want to do the same were we to make a reverse thread

I'd like to read some of that. Obviously it's tricky to give such advice without really knowing what the dude's life/lifestyle is like, but you can still give some more general advice without knowing all that.

Looks better w/o the barbour Kai. Also, why so serious?

Would look better IMO with a rollneck or more substantial knit instead of the shirt + cardigan combo, especially with the jacket. Maybe a pinroll or small cuff on the jeans too?

Claghorn, shoes kind of letting down an otherwise very nice fit. Black derbies?

Brown derbies with commando sole from Herring. I was hoping the commando sole would tone down the formality a bit. The sweater also has flecks of burnt orange, ideally working with the shoes in real life.

Ah, I see. I was suggesting a black plain toe derby/blucher instead. The flecks didn't make it through to my computer :)

ETA: I see the flecks in the close-up, but unless they come across more prominently in real life the cardigan still reads mostly as blue/gray. If that's the case, you might be over-thinking the matching aspect.

How important is full vs half canvas to you for heavier sport jackets?
