Let’s not forget they started calling it a Harrington jacket after this guy: master thespian Ryan O’Neal, and his turn as Rodney Harrington on a crap show called Peyton Place.

I do not like this jacket. :-/

Too right I wouldn't.

I may have seen elderly persons in every shade of taupe/beige/cream, but I have never ever seen anyone 'geriatric' in a G9! And that's flat! I have a vintage G9 in stone, and I wear it everywhere. The trick with that colour is to wear dark blue with it.

Oh, I said I wear it everywhere. There's one exception - St Andrews! I never wear it to university, because I'd look too much like a bloody golfer in it.
Do you by chance teach at St. Andrews?

Please explain. The only Wikipedia gives me is a British radio exec who began his career in the 80s.
There was a film critic in the 60s/70s? Named John Simon. I don’t know if he wrote about tv but he did hate everything so I’d bet Ryan O’Neal wasn’t one of his favorites.
