"Classic" menswear, especially that variety so beloved on this side of the SF site, revolves around combinations of jacket/shirt/tie/trousers/shoes, with pocket squares an optional but near-unversal accessory.

Let's challenge ourselves a little, by removing one of the key elements from our menswear equation. To wit, the necktie.

Your task for this week, good sirs, is to present a classic and timeless outfit with no necktie. Said fit should nevertheless be appropriate for all but the most stuffy of occasions.

To that end, I expect some kind of jacket at the very least. Rebellious elements such as t-shirts and jeans are not expressly forbidden, but are not preferred.

The aim here is to re-define the svelte, cultured, beautifully outfitted man as a gentleman whose free, easy-breathing neck is framed by exquisite dress sense.

Your rig must have been worn this week. Deadline for posting is Sunday 11 September, 12 noon UTC (aka GMT).

I present some images to help strike fire to your creative tinder:

Here's a shitty picture of the California tux routine I seem to wear daily. Since it's the first fit pic I've taken in a minute, might as well spread it around (cross-poast from the A&S Expats thread).

On the rare occasions where I wear a suit, I usually skip the tie these days, like so:

These pics are old, probably too old for an entry here.

If an outfit from a few days ago is permissible:

I will allow any archival fits already posted, but from here on, the fits must have been worn this week.

I've amended the original post to reflect this, and also inserted a time limit (Sunday 12 noon UTC).

In the spirit of sportsmanship I rescind my request. I'll come up with something new this weekend.

This goes against everything I believe in.

Of course I'm in. Might it be possible to get a few hours reprieve on Sunday?

That second breast pocket looks like some weird reverse barchetta.
