Boldest tie I have + wrinkled linen trousers sprezz

Pics don't seem to capture the true nature of this tie. It's a rather shiny silk reppe weave, with woven dots.

If the theme was Bold Lapels, you might win.

    Some good entries so far!

Just to clarify the rules: the only requirements for a fit to qualify for the challenge and be included in the poll are: 1) There must be a tie, and it must not be solid; 2) The fit must have been worn in the week ending tomorrow morning.

Tastefulness is the spirit of the challenge, and I hope the main criteria people use to vote. But it's not an objective thing, so nobody's going to get disqualified and excluded from the poll because of a tasteless tie.

Do they really look that massive in the full shot? They don't go that far past mid chest...

I will add to the madras bucket. Good timing of this challenge as my wife and I are off to bet the ponies this afternoon. (she's wearing a fun bold dress too, but that accessory got cut out of the picture.)

(hope I don't lose points for navy pents. not sure what else to wear with a one-off seersucker jacket.)

I really like that tie, and that combo! Nice work, Stitchy...and surprisingly un-shocking.

    Thanks. I think. [IMG]

Some good entries rolling in! For me, the most successful ones so far are those that marry an exuberant tie with an exuberant overall look. I'm a bit less fond of the looks that focus specifically on the bold tie as the sole point of interest within the look. That doesn't mean there needs to be a riot of pattern; colour works just as well to create an overall look that's consistent with the bold tie being chosen. So, for example, o/o's tie is bold but very retro-businessy, so he's gone for a stark white shirt, bright braces and a colourful square but a sober suit. Southernstyle's tie has crazy spring/summery colours so he's gone for a similarly crazy spring/summery look. The other way to create this consistency is to try to echo an archetype from the past: FlyingMonkey does this with his retro US government man abroad look, and CousinDonuts does it by pairing some more very American items together with his madras/seersucker combo.

Some of the other looks in the thread are also very nicely done, but there's a certain extra panache in the fits of the guys I mention above IMO.
