fixed that for ya. May be it's the shrugged pose. I like it aside from the pose. You've got a Sean Connery from Indiana Jones thing going there.

it's the pose, this jacket fits well, just a crap pic. thanks though.

Wow Chocosa...that is well-beyond the amateur level. To make that brown tie work with the greys and blues....really something else.

+1 to the positive comments on chocsosa's outfit. I tend to dislike navy odd trousers with jackets but this is well done.

Good stuff, @chocosa, although I don't see what's so surprising to some about grey, brown and blue working together.

As an aside, the no blue trousers 'rule' is one of the most ridiculous 'rules' anyway once we get to a reasonable standard of dress, and one which I have never really understood it - does it come from an aversion to cheap navy trousers (but then why not the even more ubiquitous cheap charcoal trousers too?), or perhaps a snobbish concern for the resemblance to denim or bleu de travail workmen's trousers, or is it just because navy is the most common colour for blazers and therefore avoiding blue trousers is an easy way not to make the mistake of being too close in colour between top and bottom?

@size 38R , that's not the total disaster I had feared, it's really quite good for what it is. However, it's actually just a bit unremarkable because it is an easy, workwear kind of interpretation of the challenge. But much better than many previous fits you have posted - seriously, just imagine what this would look like with an orphaned pinstripe suit jacket and a bowler hat. A mess, huh? Well, yes...

I'm going to swim against the tide. I think Choc's jacket looks like an orphaned suit jacket in this context. A bolder check would better hold it's own against the other elements.

From what I understand, it's a mix of tradition, concerns about versatility, the idea that in general darker jackets with lighter trousers is easier to pull off than the other way around and the like. Many who dislike navy odd trousers also dislike charcoal odd trousers. Here are a couple threads on the subject that articulate pretty much any position I can think of on the topic if people are curious (and to avoid too much distracting conversation in this thread).

Since winter in the Southern Hemisphere is half a year away, this is from half a year ago. The white long-sleeved polo made the cut for "anything that has buttons on the front", but just barely.

There's also a SWD interpretation of this challenge - but I'm not sure if we're allowed more than just one entry.

Go back an re-read the requirements again...
