Thanks for your kind remarks about the quality of my suits - could you clarify why it is that my pink shirt composition is " not what these challenges are all about" please?

I voted for you too so I'm not saying you didn't put it together right; you certainly did. I just meant what Claghorn said - that your amazing suits are almost too good such that many people don't notice the effort that those with lesser resources go to putting an outfit together. The challenges to me are about that question of putting together.

So it was more a message for people voting to really think about everyone's submissions, not telling you to do anything different! As others have aready said, you are someone from whom almost everyone here can learn something.

I recommend that we take a break this week in deference to the likely impact of U.S. Independence Day on participation. o/o can pick up again for next week.

i think a break is an excellent idea. let people regroup and refresh. will allow the challenges to keep going and not peter out.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that this is SF, with SF tastes and SF prejudices operating in the votes. In all of these challenges, your adherence to the theme is what qualifies you and gets you in the poll, but other elements are as important or more important in getting you votes. If you have poor quality pictures, you aren't going to do well. If your clothes don't fit or the fit/cut deviates too much from SF tastes, you won't do well. In a perfect world, maybe votes would be based solely on execution of the theme, but this isn't a perfect world, this is SF. And the challenge polls, like WAYWRN, don't indicate who is actually well dressed, they indicate who SF thinks is well dressed.

agree 100%. its almost like when one kid is told in school he cant play ball during recess because he is too good. total BS. the theme is merely a theme, a broad outline in which to operate, but the votes are cast based on the entirely of the fit, the pictures and whatever cache the poster is fortunate enough to have.

Nobody here was suggesting this. It was, as Flyingmonkey clarified, really directed more at voters than at Butler and an explanation of why he (and I, though I voted for Butler and not o/o) were glad o/o won.
