The huge radio antennas near Twin Peaks in San Francisco are the communications lifeline for the city. City workers are programming new receivers and we’ve been tasked to install arrestor boxes in (the unlikely) case of lightning which will reroute the surge away from the radio equipment and to the grounding electrode system of the building. In addition, we’re installing new antennas, cabling, and ground. The fire stations are first on the list, then police stations, and then the rest.

Here you can see what the arrestor box looks like: a box with a huge ground bar. A small bit of insulation will be removed from the coax and a grounding cable will connect it with the grounding bar, and voilà. Sorry I’m smiling :)

Bought a lovely steel frame racing bike off a fireman in Leeds, it was his 7th and his wife gave him an ultimatum, so I got it for less than the brand new Shimano 105 groupset that had just been fitted on it, which makes it a sort of gift. Very nice chap and I felt a bit bad.

Maybe too late, but the folks in the SW&D WAYWRN thread thought this shirt was too work-wear-y for the Jacket. I don't care, I was forced to work workwear for over 10 years, but now I am a white collar worker and can wear whatever the heck I want :p

Edit: That includes the air-tie, a personal favorite.
