I know the Sorites paradox. I'm also a big believer in, at some point, declaring that a heap of sand is no longer a heap. My definition of purple isn't universal, but it holds for the challenge.

I'm an Absurdist. Not sure it is relevant here, but maybe there is a purple and maybe there isn't. We cannot ever know, so we shouldn't let it bother us, and we create our own.

I was going to throw something together, but after HFs post I don't think I will anymore.

Well, I can't enter the challenge this week because 1. all my purple ties are back home in Canada, and 2. there's no way you'll actually catch me wearing anything near a suit and tie when the temperature is 37 degrees C and the humidity around 70%, as it is today in Tokyo. So I'm actually wearing denim shorts, a very lightweight gauze shirt and blue suede chukkas. But I can certainly do purple - so here's a reminder what I might have worn had this challenge been some other time...

Deets: 3-piece suit is bespoke, made by Walker Slater of Edinburgh from Dashing Tweeds fabric, shirt is Dunhill (which I probably wouldn't wear in this combination again), and most importantly, the purple tie is cashmere from Borsalino.(This is also a rather scary photo for me, because I'm now about 4kg lighter than March, when I took this shot)

Doc's purple pinstripe is bigfooting the hell out of this contest.

Thanks! But there's already stiff competition, and I'm sure more will rock in over the course of the day. I want to see what the likes of Butler and Tira might come up with, too! These challenges are always the most fun when there's a large field of entries.

Wow, some good stuff posted so far. I was somewhat handicapped by the summer "Casual Friday" mandate at work but wanted to give it a shot anyway. I hope this tie qualifies as purple in spite of the stripes of a different color.

    I'm liking Ebonyman's ensamble.

Donuts, yours I like too, very subtle and elegant.

I guessing I will be giving quite a few votes for this challenge. [IMG]
