I am considering a purchase of some (Minnis) Fresco cloth for a few summer suits, and am curious if anyone would be willing to provide feedback regarding which weight would be better--the 8-9 oz. or 9-10 oz. More to the point: would the 9-10 oz. Fresco cloth be too heavy for summer heat (and humidity), and are there any disadvantages to the 8-9 oz. cloth? Thanks.

There is no universal answer. I personally find the 9/10 too hot for extreme summer heat, but just fine for everything up to about 80, or 85 at a stretch. Others can take the heavier weight very easily.

I have the lighter Minnis and H&S Crispaires in the heavier weight you mention (but not Minnis in that weight).
I find the heavier weigh to be fine in the NY summer, but I can't say how you would do. It is stating the obvious, but the lighter weight one is cooler wearing. It is also a little flimsier and not as crisp looking as the heavier Crispaire.

In sum, the differences are exactly as you would expect.

Is there a reason you guys don't do more linen suits? Do they simply wrinkle too much? Are they too casual looking? Not good in humid weather? I dream about having one.

I have one. In navy. I like it and I would like another in a lighter color or maybe even a not so light mid-brown. I just always seem to want something else more.

Reading men's clothing fora will do that to you.
