1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Sales started last week. By the time you get here everything worth having will be gone. Next one is January.

Here are the shots from the RTW collection presentation. Nice. Much closer to the spirit of the Cifo bespoke cuts compared to their former RTW lines.

Thanks. But do the things we like even go on sale? For a start, Aubercy doesn't. What about Cifo RTW, Berluti and the like?

Aubercy will never put a sale sign in their window, they are too snobbish for that, but on the other hand I have definitely bought shoes there at a discount during sales season, especially models from previous collections that haven't sold, you just have to negotiate with the salesperson, and if it's in the main store with the owner, there's every chance that she or her son will give you 30% off just to move inventory.

Cifo will definitely not be putting on sale any of the current ready-to-wear collection, but I would assume they will be putting on sale the former ready-to-wear collection, as they do every season. Since they are also completely revamping their ready-to-wear collection, I expect the old collection to be discounted down until it all moves.

There are definitely opportunities in Paris to buy nice stuff on sale, that's no question. For example, stores are regularly going out of business, so I've snagged some of the best possible deals during those kinds of opportunities. Currently, a great luxury shoe store, Calceom, is going out of business, and they've put everything at 50% off. So that's G&G at -50% for example.

The feedback I've gotten is that this sales season is very aggressive everywhere in Paris because the economy is bad, so perhaps we're just getting started on the good deals.

For those who don't have the history, that's a step change in terms of pricing compared to previous collections, they've bumped it up by a significant notch.

I am told that the Cifo store on rue Marbeuf is doing -60% now before it closes for renovations.

    That's pretty incredible.

We should get down there on a SF excursion (or is it a pilgrimage).

I'm going to be in Paris this weekend. I saw recommendations for Ernest and Calceom - does anyone have any other recommendations on other spots with good sales that I should check out?

    Thanks,
    Seneca

It's crazy to see Berluti. 80% of the shoes during the fashion show was their new "luxury" sneakers.
Berluti marketing strategy is very bad.

What's happening with this low gorge thing? I checked out the latest zegna couture line and it was the same thing. Can someone explain how this is desirable? it looks awful to me.
