There is a rumor in Paris that says, "Parisian house, Smalto is for sale"...

Anyone know more about that ?!

Talking about non-parisian tailors, here are two pictures of a suit made by another tailor from Marseille, Scabal fabric :

Please, let's keep it serious so the thread can go droit au but.

Sure, he works in a MTM shop called "la Griffe Mesure" near the Opera, the adress is: 2 rue de la Tour, 13001 Marseille, phone: +33 (0)4 91 55 05 19.
Bespoke 2 pc. starts at 2,2 K€, with one basic fitting on a canvas, and one with the basted jacket.

Do you live in the area?

I am in the area two to three times a year. How would you compare the tailoring of De Angelis and Jean Rotin in terms of style and quality? Are there other tailors in the area you have a high opinion of? I am getting married in the area next summer and I want to get a new suit for the occasion. I am in NY, and I'd prefer not to pay $5,000+ and Marseille might be a good option if the tailors are good - I liked the look of the De Angelis suit. How is his English? I speak conversational French, but I don't think my French is good enough to get into tailoring details without fear of missing things.

    Thanks

I don't know how his English is, but he's an old man, so I'm not sure he even speaks it... Feel free to ask if you want some technical wording ;)

I'm happy with the suit, it's a real bespoke, with nice cut and a lot of handwork, but don't expect a Cifonelli level though.

Same as Romain for JEan Rotin. I am also very happy with my suit. I might post pics of the new one in progress.

What is the word on Arny's/Berluti? Have prices gone up? Is the bespokes stuff labeled Arny's or Berluti? Do you have a choice?

they rebranded the forestiere label, replacing Arnys at the top of the label with Berluti (as if Berluti created the forestiere...).

If you look at what's happening, LVMH bought a location called the Arnys building, and they bought a workforce, called the in-house bespoke tailors of Arnys. Full stop. There is nothing of the old Arnys being pursued in my view. Soon the name will vanish too when that generation of customers has passed.

I called the store as a former Arnys customer wanting to bring back an Arnys suit for alterations. They told me they were not doing alterations on the Arnys suits.

That's what I call cutting the umbilical cord with the past.
