It doesn't matter. The French press provides all the flavor.

Did you know that coffee from a French Press raises your cholesterol? I kid you not. Can't remember why, read the report too many years ago. Probably something the drip filters remove...along with the flavour.

Edit: Culprit = essential oils called "terpenes." Also a flavour component.

Let me guess the study's protocol:

100 people were split into two groups, with one group consuming drip coffee and the other from a French press for 90 days. Both groups went about their daily activities and ate ad libidum. After 90 days, the French press group had on average an LDL score 3.7 points above the drip group.

We conclude that French press coffee may raise cholesterol.

heh, my in-laws asked me the other day what my cholesterol numbers were, and I gave them the blankest stare I could muster. I don't think they were too happy with my willful ignorance.

Actually, it's pretty legit. Look up terpenoids.

I usually just say "hey, it doens't matter, you are going to die first!" when they ask me stuff like that

This is quite true, barring unfortunate incidents with buses and planes and whatnot.

One of the ongoing tugs-of-war involve Mrs. T's decision to be cremated (when she passes on). Her parents are aghast, and they start butting heads with her once that word comes up. It's like...ehm, you'll both be long gone anyway, you won't have a say in this. For added morbid fascination: they have plots for the both of us.
