I have converted most of my closet into shirts w/ french cuffs.

Problem is...they seem to fit oddly under sweaters...maybe even stretching the sweater sleeve fabric where it ought to be taut?

How do you wear your french cuffs under sleeves? I was thinking I might put on the cufflinks on in a normal barrel cuff kinda way, which would allow it to fit under the sweater better.

If your sweater sleeves are snug enough (and they should), I just close my french cuff like a barrel cuff, without cufflink, and the sweater sleeve will hold it together.

I do that - normally with quite flat cufflinks, preferrably with chains, so the links don't show up as bulges on the sweater cuffs.

There have been a suprising amount of french cuff related threads since i've joined. Is this typical or did I start a trend...

This is a circumstance where I'd wear barrel cuffs.

I wouldn't wear french cuffs under a sweater. I would wear barrel cuffs. (I rarely wear sweaters, though)

I wear French cuffs under sweaters all the time. I love it. I stole the idea from the cover of a Noel Coward book I have. Here's a picture of me from the Member Pictures thread:

So you can see that I pull the sleeves up a bit on the sweater. All the better to show off the links I think.

My solution has been to have detachable french cuffs made.

The formality of french cuffs seems incongruous to me with the informality and casual air of sweaters. Get some barrell cuffs.

Pft. Next thing you'll say is that button down shirts can't have French cuffs!

Well they _can_, since you can order anything you want...

Just to keep somewhat on topic, I only wear barrel cuffs with sweaters. It's a formality issue for me.

I really don't understand the issue. I wear whatever shirt I'd like to wear that particular day, whether I'll be wearing a sweater or not. Never had any problem with French cuffs in my sweaters
