Freeberg of Boston Suit?

I found a fairly nice charcoal flannel suit that fit me perfectly at a local thrift shop. Does anyone know anything about this make/store? It was actually "Freeberg of Boston for _____" some men's shop I cannot recall.

I did not pick it up, suspecting the worst....

I believe Freedberg's used to make suits for Nordstrom's and other retailers. (Perhaps Louis Boston, as well? Can anyone confirm that?) In the mid-eighties they partnered with Abboud. They had a warehouse in the South End. I don't know if they're still around.

edit: found an archived Globe article saying they went out of business in 2002. Their annual warehouse sale used to be a big event, I remember.

Thanks so much, Aspire. It has already been done! I went back this morning. The shoulders on the suit were amazing. The seams looked almost hand sewn. The fabric was a lush medium grey flannel, with lots of mottling. The labels suggest that the suit is from 1990 or so.

The gorge and two button stance is deep/low by today's standards. It looks, though, like an additional button could be placed at a perfect distance to make it a three button or a 3:2 roll. Anyone ever tried this?

At $10, can't be beat.

Freedberg was a traditional mens suitmaker which bit the dust around 10 or more years ago. It joined other esteemed names, such as Norman Hilton.

I would think that Freedberg Boston's last suitmaking factory. In comparison to now where there are a handful of national suitmaking factories, before and after WWII there were a good number of regional factories concentrated in the northeast.

My recollection was that it was good suit in the mid-range level of quality and price.

I recall that it sold at Gorsart's and Moe Ginsberg in NYC.
