I thought I would follow Vintage Gent's lead and give away a vintage overcoat that I stumbled across. It is very cool, and seems to be well made, but the shoulders are too big for me. Double breasted (4/2), peak lapel, velvet (I believe) collar. Made by Moss Bros. of Covent Garden. The jacket has certainly seen better days. I was told it was crammed in a closet for the better part of a decade. A to the dry cleaner and a little mending should have it looking sharp.

Sorry the pictures are not great. The lighting here is bad for photographing black. The thing is remarkably heavy, so while I am giving it away, I am asking for $20 to cover the packing and shipping in the US (UPS ground) or $30 to Canada. The jacket goes to the first person who sends me a PM and agrees to the following conditions (VG's): (1) The coat must be for your use only, meaning you won't attempt to flip it on eBay or at the local consignment store. (2) You must have at least 50 Style Forum posts

Measurements:
Shoulder: 19.5
Chest: 44"
Waist 41"
Sleeve: 22" +2 1/2" when I put it on, the sleeves felt longer than measured. I'm a 25" sleeve. It looked more like 23"
Length: 43"

Jamison, my temptation was to grab this, but as it's "remarkably heavy" I don't need it down here in Dixie with overcoats sitting in the closet already.

Thanks for offering it up, and may it go to a good home.

OK,

I would love to have it if it is still available. I will be putting up (for free or donation to SF) an overcoat in size 39R/40R to keep the chain going.

Thanks

I read sometimes that they used to be a quality meanswear shop rather than the middling quality stuff that they seem to be peddling for the past couple of decades. I think they still do suit hire, not many high street places do now.
