I'd heard good things about this show for a while but I finally got around to downloading the series and I'm about halfway through. Damn, what a good show. It's very funny in parts, but the dramatic side of it is so well written. The characters are dynamic and none of the conflicts are black and white. It's weird and yet so believable, and so well cast. Busy Philips is the only actor/character I don't like, but I've always hated her. Objectively, her character is still despicable and tragic and sympathetic at the same time.

And I laugh at about every other thing Bill says.

yup, was awesome. I got into it way back When It Was On, and remember thinking even then 'this show is too good to last' - and sadly I was right. Bought the DVD box set many years later, and worked my way through it. Brilliant TV. Its kinda-follow-on show (Undeclared) was also very good. Not quite as good, but still way-the-hell better than 98% of the other crap on TV.

yeah, it was pretty good. I bought the DVD and watched it pretty happily. As I said above, it wasnt as good as F&G, but definitely still pretty damn decent...

Me too! Lindsay is hot.

I just started watching and finished it about 3 weeks back. Great show, too bad it only lasted one sesason.

LOVED that show. My housemates and I watched it during grad school. And when FOX started moving its slot around, we knew it was doomed. Truly intelligent TV just doesn't seem to be able to last. Ratings are too low because the audience is too dumb.

Yeah, Fox has a history of egregiously mismanaging brilliant shows.

I think this kind of thing is finding more of a niche on cable channels like FX, AMC, TNT, etc. as they've discovered they can put out their own quality original programming but I was worried about the same thing with Mad Men after watching the first season. It's too smart to appeal to more than a very small percentage of TV watchers, but at least it has a lot of really good-looking people and some baby boomer nostalgia. Hopefully the recent publicity blitz over it because of the Emmy noms will sustain it for a few more seasons.

Loved F&G, though Undeclared was ****.
