^I'd try reading this thread: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=48647 ...lots of info and contributions from members there. Also, what's your budget? "Fresh/aquatic/citrus" could mean everything from $10.99 "4711" Cologne to $230 Creed Millesime Imperiale, and everything in between. My favorite summertime affordable "fresh, bright" scent that also isn't like what everybody else owns is Eau de Lalique. It's available online very inexpensively on ebay or scentiments (also, last time I was at a perfumania store, they had it for like $10) OR, try Monsieur Balmain (the one in the bright yellow bottle). It's a great lemon/woodsy scent and priced next-to-nothing when you can find it. (less than $20).

Man, you're going to have to get out there and sample - there's a lot of variations in fragrances, but if I were to cast a few recs your way:

Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Cool Water
Beyond Paradise
DKNY Be Delicious
Aramis New West

Thanks. It turns out I have to go out of town to a place with a real mall so they might have some place I can try these out at. I also ordered some samples of Creed and Dunhill frags.

Creed frags are very classy and nice, especially GIT, MI, SMW, and Erolfa. Dunhill's fragrances have always been a major disappointment to me... not nearly as classy or as unique as you'd expect. They seemed typical, bland, "designer" frags without much backbone. Same with Ferragamo.

Also, if you live near a TJMaxx or Marshall's, they typically have Dunhill Fragrances on closeout for $19.99. I think most of them don't sell that well at retail and they get sent to closeout stores quite often.

I think Edition was the last decent Dunhill frag, and it wasn't all that great. One of our members tried to acquire the original Dunhill (which is said to be quite good) and had such a difficult time of it he gave up.

Yeah, I never tried the original, but of the ones I did try (can't remember all the names... Desire, Eccentric, Pure, Fresh, Dunhill "Dunhill", etc.) and they were all just your typical "designer" fragrance... very mellow, blagh, unimpressive... "with notes of [synthetic] bergamot, sandalwood, and patchouli." Thanks... just like 500,000 other ones.

Some houses really push unique fragrances... Comme des Garcons is probably the best, Gucci under Tom Ford was quite good, too. Dior has put out some interesting ones, too. Dunhill and Ferragamo, though, I think really wanted a big seller that would please "everybody." I think that's a recipe for disaster. Nobody HATES them... but nobody LOVES them, either.

The original Dunhill is available here: http://www.beautyencounter.com/40357...html?synertech Discount coupon for 15% off is A7HK9V It doesn't smell anything like a dept store/designer fragrance. It is not "aqua" or "citrusy" though, so I wouldn't recommend it for Jokerman. I would say it's a sober, serious, somewhat herbaceous masculine scent. Jokerman, you may want to give Chanel Pour Monsieur, Dior Eau Sauvage, and Acqua di Parma a try. I can't guarantee you'll like them, but they are certainly worth a sniff if you are in a store that sells them.
