Fox Bros. books

Does anyone know where I might find the Fox Bros. books in Manhattan? I have received several swatches from Fox, including flannels and spring/summer cloth, but would like to see all of the cloth in each book. Thanks.

IIRC, Fox has only a basic collection of stock fabrics, which is also displayed on their website. But I could be wrong.

Not sure where some might be located, but I'm sure they're around. Just check with Fox to see who distributes them locally.

Beckenstein's in the Garment District has recently been appointed Fox's distributor in the U.S. They should have the books.

They sent the basic stock fabrics, as well as an additional (dozen or so) fabrics not included in the basic stock selection, including tropical/panama plain weave suiting cloth.

There's a great medium-to-light grey midweight flannel. Just the shade of grey (for flannel) I've been seeking for years. Around 9-10 oz., I think. A tad darker than the lightest shade of Minnis flannel.

I visited the mill recently and they keep a good stock of odd ends there. Might be a bargain to be had.

But the staff is very small so might not be the quickest way of getting cloth.

They have page after page of swatches that they will weave if you order at least thirty meters but the dozen or so on their web site are the only things they stock regularly. There is other stuff around but finding something you like is random.

May very well be the same. The light-medium grey is MWF5, P0012/11. The MWF5 cloth is 300/330 grams. All the characteristics of a good woollen flannel, without the weight. As you say, fantastic stuff.

I have the navy blue version in mind for my 3 piece suit...

10/11oz worsted flannel is great for march to october.

I've seen their flannel book at Millers Oath. IIRC it is about the same as on the website.

There is not much on display on the website and the colours are as usual different in the flesh...

The navy is quite dark compared to the website....

I found Fox's 10-11oz stuff to be too fragile and only their 13/14oz stuff to be worthwhile

I live in the U.S. and was hit with a 25% import duty plus customs fees since Fox used DHL as their carrier.

Fox declares the entire value and is not shrewd (like other English merchants) to claim the item as being a non-commerical sample.

Did you try the worsted 10 11 oz?

Is it that fragile?

I live in the south-east of England and i want a 3 piece suit made...

The 13 oz will be too warm..

Both the Drapers / Barbera and Fox Bros. 10/11 oz. flannels are quite good imo. A statement backed by both Raphael and Poole.
