Forward pleat khakis?

Basically I have a job that requires khaki colour trousers. They need a crease with pleats. Problem is, I hate pretty much all reverse pleated trousers. Does anyone know of any cotton khakis where the pleats go forward, require little care, and keep a decent crease? It would also help if they didn't cost an arm and leg. Thanks in advance.

Well, they aren't cheap, but I recommend Bills khakis. Try looking on STP, eBay, and Ben Silver's factory outlet for better prices.

Hmm. Just found these. Would they be okay? It's just a coffee place job after all

These would be fine. You don't want to get stains on anything nice because of this job.

Indeed. Thanks anyway! I'll keep the company in mind if I need anything nicer.

Just curious: did your employer specify that they need to be pleated? Or is that just your preference?

I thought you wanted forward pleats. The ones you posted look like reverse to me. Polo Blue Label carries forward pleats. They are a smooth twill, and run ~$125, but they are seen sometimes on sale for $50 at the department store. But for your stated purpose, I'd endorse the LLBean in the nano fabric.

If you enlarge the image, you can see that those are definitely forward pleats, which is unusual for such a basic inexpensive pair of pants.

bch: They are not reverse. Look closely at the picture. Also in description: "Inverted pleats for slimmer appearance." The rest of their pleated pants in that workhorse 65/35 poly/cotton fabric are clearly reverse.

Guys, I'm not gonna pay even close to $50 for trousers I'd wear at a coffee shop. The $22 for those Dickies seems a lot more reasonable so... I'll stick to that. I'm also a poor college student.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to say... yes, he requires pleats. I'm not sure why, because it seems harder for women to find pleat trousers that are inexpensive.

Cotton is not going to keep a decent crease. Maybe if you Scotch Guard it, but other than that ... plug in your iron.

Be careful, make sure you can wear forward pleats. I understand it may be a given that pleats are pleats, but your employer may not even know that forward pleats are possible, and you may find yourself standing in front of him/her saying "but these ARE pleated" and getting a response along the lines of "you knew what I meant, stop being a wise-A**, and get with the program."

Not trying to stir up trouble, but I have plently of experience with organizations that strive for uniformity and with individuals who either on purpose or inadvertently went their own way, much to the chagrin of their superiors.

That said, maybe you can suck it up and buy reverse pleats, that way when you write the expense off on your taxes, and the tax man says that kahkis are double duty, work and personal, and therefore not deductible, you can say, "Sir I assure you I would never be caught wearing THOSE outside of work."

new obsession: If he's THAT anal then he can really go ************, but he doesn't seem like it. He just specifically said khaki coloured pants with pleats and a crease. I don't think it matters that much considering we'll be wearing APRONS in front of them. Also, these are bought with our own cash. They're assuming we either have them already or can get 'em for $15 at the local Target or something.

Manton: I realize that now. I'm not about to get the reverse pleated polyester blend ones from Dickies anytime soon, so yeah.

I had the same apron question.

As for the anal issue. I'm sure you are right, just wanted to point it out, this type of thing comes from a place where "attention to detail" is a mantra and "uniformity" is an adjective, as in "when I get back here I want to see all of these footlockers and rucksacks uniformity!" [I was never sure why they couldn't just say uniform, or exress a desire for a sense of, or acertain amount of, uniformity, but I digress.]

Enjoy the job, and don't worry about buying anything you would want to wear anyhwere else. The first time you spill a double caf half mocha whatever the F*** all over yourself, you will stop caring about your pleats. Good luck, have fun.

Heh. I can totally imagine some dink of a manager giving someone crap for wearing "the 'wrong' kinds of pleats... AND WHERE ARE YOUR 16 PIECES OF FLAIR?"

I dunno, if he's insisting on pleats when they won't even be visible under your apron, I'm thinking 'anal' might be spot-on. Or maybe he's just clueless and said 'pleats' when he really meant 'cuffs'? Did he specify cuffed or uncuffed?
