The shoemaker list is now officially on the wiki, with von Rothbart's permission.

I edited my mirror polishing piece and polished the whole wiki up a bit. I hope it's to everyone's liking.

    Cheers

A good use of the wiki would be to organize the Jantzen fabrics with pics and reviews. I just had five shirts made there and I hope to get around to this once I get back to Shanghai in a few days or back in Austin in a few weeks.

Good call. I'll try to figure out which fabrics I have.

edit: here's a link to the thread on AAAC. Are we allowed to ape the reviews?

Just added some leather terms to the shoe page. If anything is wrong or missing please correct just notice they pop up from time to time on the boards.

The "mirror shine" article seems to be pulled. Anyone saved a copy?

The wiki stores all edits to a page so the content can be restored by comparing the previous version to the current version.

    Wow.
That's what I thought when I had spent several hours on the Wiki and you (along with 99.99% of the others) didn't feel like dignifying that with but a miniscule comment. Now that I took away what is mine you go "wow"? I guess I'm "overreacting" when I call this behavior hypocritical, right? Pfft!

Well, that's pretty pathetic. I can empathize with your frustration over some of the recent moderation, but complaining that you didn't receive enough accolades for your work on the wiki and then pulling it all down is childish. There was plenty of appreciation here for your shoe contributions, but if constant validation is what you need, this isn't the place for you.

That said, I restored the content on the wiki using a diff of past versions. Obviously the wiki remains publicly editable, but to make it easy to restore the content in the future should there be a similar occurrence, I'm posting the content below where it can't be edited by anyone except me or moderators.

Stay tuned for our next episode of Clothing Forum Members Who Throw Big Tantrums with Jerry Springer.

Copyright issues are not to be taken lightly - not only because there is very real risk of people getting sued, but mostly because of gentlemanly honesty: if someone does not want their work to be publicly published, they have a right to have their work removed. Unless they have explicitly said that their work was allowed to be publicly published, of course!

This is the exact reason why Wikipedia has such strict rules for copyright licensing. Every word written on Wikipedia has to be licensed with a special copyright license which allows work contributed to Wikipedia to be publically published: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights With the Wikipedia scheme, it is not possible to "submarine" the system by requesting one's work to be removed after it has been contributed.

I have removed the MirrorShine article again. Please, do not try to revert the MirrorShine page to an older version. The original author has explicitly asked it to be removed. It is much better to, as j suggested, simply rewrite the article. After all, it is not that much work (and most of us know how the mirror shine process works [IMG]). It is also the only honest thing to do.

You should have just rewritten it if you were so worried about the copyright issue.
