Dear Folks:
Another forum special: A NWT sport coat from H Herzfeld.
Herzfeld is an Upper East Side haberdashery selling very expensive English, European and American clothes to a well-heeled, finicky clientele that includes sharp dressers like attorney Ed Hayes.
Sartorial obsessive Film Noir Buff lovingly profiles Herzfeld here:
http://www.filmnoirbuff.com/article/...ll-not-totally
The coat on offer here is an absolutely classic item. As you can see in the pictures, the bright red and green elements set against a ground of brown, tan and gray.
The price tag is 795, but this and the address on the label mean the coat, though absolutely classic, is not the latest thing (as if that ever mattered to Herzfeld). The current price for such a coat at Herzfeld is northwards of 1400.
The material is soft but not flimsy, the construction is full canvass. The RN number on the tag indentifies the maker as Martin Greenfield, the Brooklyn maker of all the high end garments for Brooks Brothers, including the Golden Fleece and custom lines. Styling is similar, and the work & trimmings are just as good or slightly better, for instance in the buttons.
Measurements are fairly standard:
32.5 top to bottom in back including collar
shoulder 19 seam to seam
arm 25.5 shoulder seam to cuff
chest 47
coat waist 44
Two button front, four buttons each sleeve, single rear vent, all wool, fully lined, made in USA.
My price to you is 200 plus 15 insured shipping in CONUS, 25 to most foreign parts.
PM if interested.
Also on forum special this weekend: 20 Paul Stuart ties in narrow widths, and a 42 R Oxxford herringbone tweed sport coat on the Onwentzia model. Check the listings in the buying & selling subforum for details.
