Not so sure. Last year Mercedes came out and clobbered everyone in qualifying in Australia but that pace didn’t carry over to every track. If Mercedes clobbers everyone in Q the first 3 or 4 races then I’ll say it’s looking like another Mercedes walkover.

Melbourne is not a reliable indicator, but it does show that Merc's ability to go away, do their homework, and come back fighting is unmatched in F1. Everyone (seemingly including Merc themselves) thought that Ferrari was about .4s ahead at the end of testing. Incredible.

The Alonso curse seems to be holding. Now that he's gone, McLaren seem credible again.

No surprise there. With a 21 race calendar, adding more races was never going to happen without dropping another and hosting 2 races in the same country is pretty dumb.
