Who's in for the inaugural SF1 meetup, May 8, 2022 Miami?? I just used Marriott points to book my room. Best I could do is a Towne Place Suites in Port St. Lucie. That's not too far is it?

I mean, do you consider two hours of driving far? Because that's going to be the minimum and staying at a crummy hotel.

Just found out our local little sportsbook in Chicago is taking bets on the F1 races. I've got 20 on Lando for a potential payout of 520 and 10 on Daniel with a potential payout of 340. I forgot to ask if they're taking bets on a team

Now, I just need a repeat of Mad Maxx and Had Enough Hamilton doing that magic that they did in Monza.

I could certainly do it, though I'm still a little butthurt that our current mayor dropped Chicago's pursuit of an F1 street race even though F1 had given us a massive fan experience event in Grant Park during the 2019 Canadian GP. It was apparently down to Miami and Chicago for the second US GP until we unilaterally disarmed.

May 8th though is a curious date. It seems to hit that period where Miami is transitioning from Hurricane season into oppressive tropical weather season. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I love Austin and the idea of attending a race there but something about Miami and a street course is winning out in my head

I’ve been meaning to try new hobbies. Maybe gambling could be fun??

It can be, but it has its pitfalls. I'm kind of blessed in that I grew up in Reno, and I saw how addictive it could be (same old retired guy at the same slot machine every time I went into the local Albertsons). When I've gone to Vegas with buddies, I have my daily loss limit, and I stick to it like glue. This is the first time that I've taken advantage of the sports book in Chicago.

Until, I found out I could bet F1, I was betting solely college football. My rules are start with a weekly hundred dollar nut....if you go down, bring it back up to a hundred....if you go up. build up your nut so that you're hopefully playing with a four or five hundred dollar nut by rivalry week and the championship game, but pull a little profit out as warranted. If you're down 500 for the season, walk away for the rest of the year. My goal is to, for the whole season, lose no more than I just shrug off and maybe win 1000-1500 (best case) which isn't life changing "buy that Chinese liver that I've had my eye on" but enough to get Daddy a new pair of Crockett & Jones for fun.

I still have the sterling silver Streamerica pen that I bought downstairs at Tiffany's in the Bellagio on a fifty dollar moneyline bet for Ohio State to beat Miami for the national championship.

I’m planning to attend as well. The street course they selected is like the anti-Monaco though. You couldn’t have picked an uglier section of Miami. We will give Monaco a run for its money on entry/exit traffic though.

you guys watch the Schumacher documovie yet? It was fascinating, although I was never a Schumi fan. The docu reminded me why - although it helped me understand the personality I used to find so standoffish

I plan too. I've read nothing but great reviews and that it finds that fine line between hatchet job and hagiography.

The meet up in Miami sounds cool, I really would love to come and watch a GP Stateside ( maybe combined with a holiday) one day

I don't know how things work in America, but In England we just rent a van and sleep in the back for the full weekend, we take a barbecue and enough beer to satisfy an army, it's uncomfortable and it stinks but it's part of the experience ?

Sure, if we're talking properly modified caravans!

Are those odds for them to win at Sochi? Sochi does play to their car’s strength like Monza, but then again I can’t remember the last time Mercedes didn’t win there. Baron Zemo will have to take himself, Lewis and Max out for a chance at pay dirt

Yeah, those are my odds for this weekend. Everyone, including Mad Maxx, was a positive payout except for Hamilton. Most likely scenario is that both McLarens qualify well, get a good start off the grid and then Hamilton has to retire for whatever reason.

I think with his Monza penalty Verstappen might decide to take his PU penalty this race as well
