A lot of ways I could have envisioned Red Bull winning this race. Out-strategizing Toto was not one of them, though here we are.

This was Mercedes being stupid with strategy. RB has it right and is making Perez be #2 to support Max. Mercedes is still trying to be fair with both drivers when it's clear that Bottas is out of the WDC. They need to just use him to maximize points and strategy for Lewis.

As soon as Max got near Bottas and they were talking about how Lewis' race hinged on how long Valtteri held him up, I said to my son, "Bottas will make a mistake and let Max by." Sadly, it was not a bold prediction.

Merc totally cocked the strategy. Both Lewis and Valtteri asked for the undercut, and neither one of them got it. They'd already seen fucked it up by letting Max undercut at the first stop.

Ricciardo has to be feeling better after this race.
