Saw that. Not shocked.
I certainly was. It has to be 3 orders of loudness quieter. I doubt that cracks 110 db. Last years car was 145.
I've gotten to like the new engines noise. Yes, it'd be nice if they were a little louder but I don't think the wail of the v8s is necessary.
I think Montezemolo said it best when he said that part of F1 is that the sound should be like music, not just noise.
It's probably true that Mercedes engines have about +80hp advantage. The former midfield cars (Force India, Williams, etc.) are able to fight for podiums, ahead of Ferrari and Red Bull. Works team Mercedes is about 1 sec/lap ahead, because they were able to fully package the car around the engine, while the other Merc engined teams are just customers that got the specs later in the design process.
I was so happy to hear him (Luca) sound miserable when leaving the Bahrain track (early) because Ferrari was fighting for p9 and p10. I'm not normally a Ferrari hater but it was great given all his trash talk.
Setting a great example of sportsmanship and perseverance for his team, too.
That Ferrari wasn't this bad in pre season testing. They've been blown by in recent weeks. Alonso, he must be losing his shit. Raikkonen looks like he did when he was w Ferrari last.
That's a very Italian thing to say.
I don't know if you've been to a live race or not, but it should sound like a shrieking banshee, be a lot louder than you thought possible, and make the ground rumble beneath you. Definitely not music. But certainly more than just noise.
Stefano Domenicali has been replaced as head of the F1 team.
Interesting... most articles read he resigned. They're bring Ferrari NA's president in.
No idea what impacts these changes cause as I don't follow Ferrari at all except for their drivers.
I can however, wear my Kimi/Ferrari hat again
BBC is reporting that it may be Ross Brawn that eventually takes over.
I think Montezemolo means that lower formula is more like "noise" ...it's very loud and the ground rumbles, but nothing special (you can get that from many lower categories). He's saying F1 should be more than just "noise" and more like "music."...more special.
I really hope so, for I don't understand how a guy with zero racing experience and who hangs out in the Hamptons can be any good for F1
To be fair, Montezemolo went from being Enzo's assistant to running the team.
